Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Protection Specialist to join our team. As a Data Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that our organization complies with all relevant data protection laws and regulations, and for protecting our customers' personal data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data protection policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
- Conduct regular data protection risk assessments and audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and threats to our customers' personal data.
- Implement and manage security tools and technologies such as encryption, access controls, and other security measures to protect against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of personal data.
- Monitor and investigate data protection events and incidents, and respond to data breaches in a timely and effective manner.
- Provide data protection training and awareness to employees to enhance their understanding of data protection risks and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest data protection threats, trends, and best practices to ensure our data protection protocols are current and effective.
- Work collaboratively with other IT staff to implement data protection measures and ensure the integrity of our systems.
- Develop and maintain data breach notification and incident response plans to ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulations.
- Conduct data protection assessments and due diligence for third-party vendors and partners to ensure their data protection controls meet our standards.
- Manage data protection incidents and coordinate incident response efforts with other IT staff, business stakeholders, and external parties as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or CIPT are a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data protection roles, with a strong understanding of data protection principles, best practices, and technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of data protection tools and technologies such as encryption, access controls, and data masking.
- Proficiency in conducting data protection risk assessments and audits.
- Demonstrated ability to respond to data breaches and incidents in a timely and effective manner.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other IT staff and business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with relevant data protection laws and regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
- Experience with data breach notification and incident response planning.
